Program overview:
The Lifelong Mentors program is designed for high school students that have a passion for action sports and giving back. We combine skateboarding and outbound adventure with professional development and working with younger children.

All mentors must commit to teaching younger children how to skate AT LEAST one time each week. Applicants that commit to volunteering twice a week will be given priority. Mentors will also participate in 5 skate night sessions at our private skate park, as well as have the opportunity to attend professional development workshops. Lastly, Lifelong Mentors will be given priority for our Summer Travel Skate Series.

Important Dates:

  • Orientation and training day at Swanston Community Center 03/03/19

  • Skate Coaching Dates: Mondays and Wednesdays 3/11/19 - 5/22/19
    -Location: Swanston Community Center: 2350 Northrop Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95825
    -Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm

  • Skate Night Professional Development Dates: March 7, March 21, April 4, April 25, and May 9
    -Location: Fruitridge Community Collaborative: 4625 44th Street, Sacramento, CA 95820
    -Time: 6:00pm- 8:30pm

  • End of the year camping trip and celebration. 5/25/19 - 5/26/19

Availability Requirements
How often can you volunteer as a Lifelong Skate Mentor? *
-Lifelong Mentors teach K-6 graders how to skate every Monday and Wednesday starting 3/11/19 and finishing 5/22/19. -Lifelong Mentors meet from 3:30pm - 5:30pm at Swanston Community Center (2350 Northrop Ave. Sacramento, CA 95825) -Lifelong Mentors must provide their own transportation and volunteer AT LEAST one session per week to participate.
Can you commit to Lifelong Skate Night Workshops? *
-Lifelong Mentors meet every other Thursday to skate our private skatepark and participate in professional development workshops. -Lifelong Mentors will meet at the FRUITRIDGE COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE (4625 44th St, Sacramento, CA 95820) from 6:00pm-8:30pm. -Skate Night Dates: March 7th, March 21st, April 4th, April 25th, and May 9th. -Lifelong Mentors must attend AT LEAST 4 skate night workshops to participate in the program.
